There is a lot of requests as to what is taken into account when crafting.
The crafting System is made up of 3 parts.
Calculating your roll.
The system rolls a 1d20. +
Craft Weapon (If it’s a weapon) or Craft Armor (if it’s a armor)Â Â +
Takes your Intelligence Modifier and your Wisdom Modifier +
If you’ve crafted this recipe before it will take your modifier to the recipe (which always increases. The more you make of the recipe. the higher the modifier which makes this recipe trivial)
Add all that up and you get your score.
The DC is a combination of things.
The recipe DC is usually what it is on the blueprint. However this can be modified if your crafting a recipe that is using your secondary class..
If your using a secondary class there is a +255 Modifier added to the recipe. Making it near impossible to craft as it’s unknown to you. You would have to take the time to research the recipe using a Secondary Research Lectern.
In the example above the VS Research DC is 0 as this is a recipe of his/her primary class.
If it were the secondary class a +255 DC penalty would be added. To bring this penalty down you must take the blueprint to the
table above and research it down.
“You have a recipe you are trying to research. After each successful research you will be one step closer to being able to craft this recipe without hinderance.
There are various items that you can find that will aid you in your research with their own DC. The skill required is Appraise.”
After putting the recipe on the lectern that dialog box will appear. The base skill for research is Appraise. To quickly lower the DC you would need to research the recipe to 100% (100XP). This is per recipe.
Here is the breakdown of Research XP on the blueprint :
- 0-10%Â =Â 255 DC
- 11-20% =Â 200 DC
- 21-30% = 175 DC
- 31 40% =Â 150 DC
- 41-50% =Â 100 DC
- 51-60% =Â 85 DC
- 61-70% =Â 75 DC
- 71-80% =Â 45 DC
- 81-90% = 15 DC
- 90-99% = 5 DC
- 100% = 0Â DC
After you pass your roll vs the DC the last two bits of information is as follows:
Class Experience Points –Â For every time you successfully craft anything you gain class experience points. Think of it as your base crafting level as a crafter. Period.
Some recipes may take your class experience points into account. Maybe a recipe that requires someone who is more proficient in crafting. That is what this is taking into account.
The Concentration Check.  When you craft a recipe you get a chance to learn the recipe to make it more trivial. Concentrating on the recipe and the process you did increases the bonus to your rolls. If you succeed you get a point in this blueprint and when the next time comes around that bonus adds to your roll. Thus making it trivial. This is your Craft XP for the Blueprint. This is what is meant when it says “Current Points Invested in this Recipe: “
I hope this explains the math behind the crafting.
Side note: There will be some recipes with a really high base DC. This is intentional. Due to the modifiers in place you may have to find some magical equipment to boost your modifiers. Leave it up to the roleplayers.
