So you want to become a Shop Keeper ? #
One of our veteran players wanted to show you how to become a shopkeeper. The system is fairly simple. We do not use the standard shops for player commerce. Some old areas do but those are being phased out.
As of current there is only one admin of a shop per shop. The shops vary in styles, sizes and some have more Denomination chests. Shops can be built by carpenters.
We start out on your Kingdom Isle. Which everyone has a few pre-set buildings to call your own. Heading to the shop we go over it and is greeted with a bell. This lets the owner know someone is coming or leaving the shop.
The sign shows what type of currency the store accepts.
In the back, The store has a sign on how to work the system as well. Including commands.
The first thing you want to do when you build your shop is to take control of it.
As a admin you can set prices.
/store makeadmin
This will make you the admin of the store.
The store works on a inventory display basis. You stock the display with 1 of the item you want to sell. You put the rest in a warehouse chest.
You would use the /setprice # command to set the price of the DISPLAY CASE. Not the items. So you would need to group your items into cases to determine their value.
In this step. We would need to tell the shop system what items to accept as currency.
As you can see we put in a Ingot of Copper since we are in need of copper ingots to make copper weapons. Which now means that the cost you put on the display now costs the amount in ingots.
You can put in as many item types you want as payment.
This store only has 1 chest for denominations of 1 unit.
Some stores have multiple denominations
Now the store accepts copper ingots as currency
Preparing for Customers #
We need to make sure all the displays are locked. When you lock a display it starts the shop system. While locked the display items become the item they choose from the store inventory. As long as it’s in stock they will be able to purchase from it.
Use the switch to lock and unlock all display cases.
If someone tried to buy an item that is not in stock it will say ‘Out of Stock’.
A nifty new feature that has been added is the ability for admins or shop owners to pull a item from stock. Someone wants to see a item? Pull it from stock to show them. Just walk up to a LOCKED display case and pull one.
Selling to Customers #
We are finally at the home stretch. A customer walks in. Sees the store only accepts ingots. Luckily he has some to spare. He walks to the display case and makes a purchase.
Vola, You’ve made your first 10 Unit sale.
In the Sales Chest you can find your pay here.
Thats it. Congrats!
Key Notes about the shop system #
Definitely keep your store stocked.
You will want to keep your warehouse and control room locked at all times.
